We know it can be somewhat unnerving to enter into a new environment, especially when there are many unknowns. To give you an idea of what to expect at The Well, we put together answers to some frequently asked questions that will hopefully help you understand what The Well is like week to week.
WHERE DOES THE WELL GATHER?
We meet weekly on Sundays at 9:15 am & 11:15 am at 1601 Haskell St, Austin, TX 78702, inside Martin Middle School. If you are looking for a church community or if you have questions about God or Jesus, we invite you to join us!
DOES THE WELL PROVIDE CHILDCARE?
When you come to The Well, feel free to use the Parent Parking lot and enter through the Parent Entrance where you can check your child(ren) into the Well Kids Ministry. Our Well Kids Ministry volunteers all have background checks and will take care of your children and teach them about God in a fun and interactive way while you attend the worship gathering. Learn more about Well Kids.
WHERE DO I PARK IF I VISIT?
The Main Entrance to The Well is located on Haskell St. with Guest Parking on Haskell St., Comal St. and Chalmers Ave (see map below). There is additional parking on the surrounding streets. Please be aware so you don’t block any driveways. Parent Parking is available on Comal Street.
WHAT KIND OF CHURCH IS THE WELL?
The Well is a growing community that explores together what it means to love and follow Jesus in the context of Austin and the world. We are a church that seeks to know God and live out the good news of Jesus.
WHAT KIND OF PEOPLE COME TO THE WELL?
The Well is a diverse community of people from different backgrounds who are all in different places in their spiritual journey. Some are exploring the Christian faith for the first time, others are new believers in Christ, and some have spent most of their lives in church.
WHAT IF I DON'T NORMALLY GO TO CHURCH?
Perfect! We desire to create a welcoming environment for those who are curious about God, but have never felt comfortable in church. We try to explain the different elements of the worship gathering so that people don’t get lost along the way. We want The Well to be a place where you can learn, apply, and wrestle with who God is and what He wants for you. It’s perfectly fine if you don’t have it all figured out yet; we don’t either.
WHAT ARE THE WORSHIP GATHERINGS LIKE?
The worship gatherings at The Well are casual, but focused. We pattern our church after the
early Church in teaching, prayer, and fellowship. We teach from the Bible. We pray, meditate
on God, sing, and reflect. We respond by taking communion together. We seek to make our
worship gatherings accessible to those who are new to church and the Christian faith, yet at the same time fresh, challenging, and equipping for those who have been in the faith for a long
WHAT DOES THE PASTOR USUALLY TALK ABOUT?
We believe that God is a personal God and that the teachings of the Bible are still as true and relevant today as they were when it was written. We present the ageless truths of the Bible in a format that’s easy to understand, even if you’ve never been to church. At the core of the message each week is the Gospel – the good news that through Jesus we can have an intimate and personal relationship with God. We believe this message has amazing implications for our lives and can transform and redeem every part of it (relationships, sex, money, purpose, etc.). Listen to previous week’s sermons online.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
It doesn’t matter; wear what is comfortable for you. There’s no set dress code at The Well, but we tend to dress on the casual side.
CAN I BRING MY FRIENDS?
We would love for you to invite your friends. We do our best to be a warm and welcoming environment for people who are curious about Jesus or who are looking to belong to a community of Christ-followers.
