Connections & Discipleship Resident: Juliana Quintero
Juliana, also known as Juli (pronounced “Hoo-lee”), is originally from Pereira Colombia and moved to the states when she was 16 years old. She grew up Catholic, but it wasn’t until 2010 that she fully understood who Christ is and the magnitude of his death on the cross.
Juliana has been at The Well since before it actually started and was the first person to commit to helping start the church! Some things that stand out about Juli is her joy, love for Christ, and passion for God and people.
Operations/Administrative Assistant: Kathryn Pesyna
Kathryn is a born and raised Midwesterner from Indiana, but as they say “She got here [Texas] as fast as she could.” She married her high school sweetheart, Ken Pesyna, and they have recently ventured into parenthood with Kenneth and Elizabeth. A few years ago, God called them to help some good friends plant a church in East Austin – The Well! It has truly become their family.
She is a self-diagnosed anglophile whose idea of the perfect evening is a glass of wine and a good book. She has a degree in English Language & Literature from Purdue University, so if you ever want someone to drop some knowledge on you about how Chaucer was a olden time hip-hop artist, why English spelling is so dang weird, or what exactly a Byronic hero is, hit her up. She loves worshipping Jesus, all things Harry Potter, crosswords, making and checking off lists, Tex-Mex, spreadsheets, and Beethoven.
Elder: Jake Ridley
Jake was born in the great town of Cairo, Georgia. Jake grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ as his savior when he was 6. However, it wasn’t until his senior year at Auburn he really started following the Lord.
Jake moved to Austin 4 years ago and married his beautiful wife Lauren, who is an Austin native. He and Lauren joined The Well before it launched after being involved at Hill Country Bible Church Austin. Jake is the Director of the Community Groups ministry at The Well. He and Lauren also host a group every Tuesday night at their home in Northwest Austin.
Jake is currently a Client Services Representative at Church Business Support, a company that helps churches with their finances and administration. Jake’s biggest passions are playing basketball, serenading Lauren with his electric guitar, and discipleship. Jake hopes to make as many disciples as possible for the glory of Jesus.
Paul is originally from Minnesota, but has been in Austin long enough (since 1989) to be nearly a native Texan. Paul grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ as his savior shortly after his marriage to Laurie. He grew in his faith through intentional discipleship and service at Hill Country Bible Church where he served as an Elder and Associate Pastor.
Paul and Laurie have three adult sons, a fantastic daughter-in-law, and two incredible granddaughters. They started attending the Well in 2013 and are deeply invested in church planting. Laurie has been serving on the church plant staff at HCBC, and both have helped plant a church in San Saba, Texas.
Paul is currently the Operations Lead at Assurant Field Asset Services providing national property maintenance, inspections, and rehab services to the default and investor markets. Paul and Laurie enjoy being grandparents, Texas A&M sports (whoop!), and cruising in their classic Oldsmobile convertible.
